1. SUMMARY

Japa Counter does not require an account and does not collect information such as your name, email address, phone number, contacts or location.

The app works primarily offline, and the information you record in the app, such as your japa counts, session history, selected mantras and sacred sheets, stays on your device.

To help us keep the app stable and understand which features are being used, the app sends limited, non-advertising telemetry to Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics when a network connection is available.

This telemetry may include information such as app opens, screen names, selected mantra identifiers or names, crash reports, device information and app version information. Advertising ID collection is disabled, and we do not use this information for advertising or personalized advertising.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Japa Counter does not directly collect personal information such as:

• Your name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Date of birth
• Contacts
• Location
• Camera or microphone data
• Account or login information

The app does, however, use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to collect limited technical and usage information for app improvement, diagnostics and crash reporting.

This information may include:

• App opens and basic app usage
• Screen names or screens visited
• Selected mantra identifiers or names
• Crash reports and stack traces
• Device and app information
• App version information
• Basic technical information required for diagnostics

We do not use this information for advertising.

Advertising ID collection is disabled. Ad storage, ad personalization and related advertising signals are turned off.

Firebase processes this information on our behalf under Google's applicable privacy terms and policies.

3. INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE

The app saves the following in its own private storage on your device:

• your japa counts, completed malas and round progress
• your session history
• the mantra you have selected, and any mantras you add yourself
• the contents of your sacred sheets
• your settings, including auto japa interval, speech, music, sound, vibration and theme
• your reminder time, if you set one

This information is written and read by the app on your device. We do not have direct access to this locally stored information, and it is not uploaded to our servers.

Uninstalling the app deletes the app's locally stored data, subject to Android's backup functionality described below.

4. ANALYTICS AND CRASH REPORTS (FIREBASE)

To keep the app stable and understand which features are used, Japa Counter uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics.

When a network connection is available, the app may send limited, non-advertising telemetry to Firebase.

Typical signals may include:

• app opens
• screen names
• selected mantra identifiers or names
• crash reports and stack traces
• coarse device and app version information provided by Google for diagnostics

The app does not send the private custom notes or personal information that you may enter as part of your mantra practice to Firebase as analytics data.

Advertising ID collection is disabled. We also turn off ad storage, ad personalization and related advertising signals. We do not use Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics to serve advertising to you.

This information is processed by Google under Google's Firebase and Google Analytics services and applicable privacy policies. We use the information only to understand app usage, improve the app, identify technical problems and fix crashes.

5. THE MANTRA LIBRARY IS OFFLINE

The full mantra library, including all Devanagari text, transliterations and meanings, is contained inside the app as installed.

The app does not download mantras, meanings, audio or other content after installation, and it does not need to contact our website or another server to provide its core functionality.

Over-the-air updates are disabled. App updates are delivered through Google Play.

6. SAVING AND SHARING YOUR SACRED SHEET

When you tap Download on a sacred sheet, the app creates an image on your device and saves it to your gallery. Android may ask for your permission when required.

The image is created entirely on your device and is not uploaded to our servers. We do not see or receive the image.

When you tap Share, the app passes the sheet to Android's own share sheet and you choose the destination. Whatever you send then travels to the app or service you selected and is governed by that service's own privacy policy.

The app does not send anything through the sharing function unless you initiate the action and does not keep a record of what you shared or who you shared it with.

The same applies to the copy button on a mantra. The text is copied to your device's clipboard, which is managed by Android and your device.

7. SPEAK ON EACH JAPA (TEXT TO SPEECH)

If you enable Speak on each japa, the app hands the text of the selected mantra to the text-to-speech engine installed on your Android device, which then speaks it aloud.

That engine is separate software, usually supplied by Google or your device manufacturer, and operates under its own privacy policy.

Depending on the engine you use and how it is configured, it may process the text on your device or through its own service. We have no control over and no visibility into that processing.

The text sent is the mantra text. If you enable speech for a mantra you added yourself, the text you typed is what is sent to the text-to-speech engine.

If you do not want this processing, leave the speech setting disabled. It is off by default, and the other app features work without it.

8. BACKGROUND MUSIC

The music and chant tracks are audio files included inside the app.

Playing these tracks does not require a network connection or a third-party streaming service.

9. PERMISSIONS AND WHY THEY ARE USED

Japa Counter may request or use the following permissions or device capabilities:

• Vibration: Provides haptic feedback as you count each bead.
• Photos and media / storage: Used when you choose to save a sacred sheet image to your gallery.
• Notifications: Used only when you choose to set a daily reminder. Reminders are generated on your device.
• Network access: Used when available for Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics telemetry and for Google Play-related app functionality.

The app does not request access to your:

• Camera
• Microphone
• Contacts
• Calendar
• Location
• Phone
• SMS
• Call logs

10. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The app is intended for a general audience aged 18 and over.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not contain content specifically directed at children.

The limited Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics telemetry described in this policy is used for app analytics, diagnostics and crash reporting and is not used for advertising.

11. YOUR DATA RIGHTS

Because we do not maintain user accounts or a database containing your personal profile, there is no account to close and no personal profile for us to provide or manage.

Most information associated with your japa practice is stored locally on your device.

If you want to remove locally stored app data, you can clear the app's storage through your Android settings or uninstall the app. Sacred sheets that you have already saved to your gallery are separate files and remain there until you delete them.

If you contact us regarding information processed through Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics, we will consider your request in accordance with applicable law and the information available to us.

If you are in a jurisdiction with statutory data rights, such as the EU or UK GDPR, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, or the CCPA, those rights apply to personal data that is processed about you, subject to applicable legal requirements and exceptions.

12. DEVICE BACKUP

Android's built-in backup may be enabled for this app.

If you have device backup switched on in your Android settings, Android may include the app's locally stored data in a backup associated with your Google account.

That backup is handled by Google under Google's applicable privacy policies. We cannot see or access your Google account backup.

You can manage or disable Android device backup through your Android settings.

13. SECURITY

App data is held in the app's private storage area, which Android isolates from other apps.

The security of locally stored data also depends on the security protections of your device. We recommend keeping a screen lock enabled and keeping your Android operating system and the Japa Counter app updated.

Information sent to Firebase is handled through Google's services and security infrastructure.

14. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

Japa Counter uses the following third-party services:

Google Firebase Analytics

Used to understand basic app usage and improve the app.

Google Firebase Crashlytics

Used to identify crashes, technical problems and stability issues.

Google Play

Used to distribute and update the application.

Android Text-to-Speech

Used only when you enable the Speak on each Japa feature.

These services may process information according to their own privacy policies and terms.

15. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

If our privacy practices change, we will post an updated version of this policy at this address with a new effective date.

We will also describe material changes in the app's release notes on Google Play where appropriate.

If a future version of the app collects additional types of information, we will update this policy and the applicable Google Play Data Safety information before or when that version is released, as required.
