Meaning
Three names carry the sixteen words. Hare addresses the Lord's own energy, understood in Gaudiya Vaishnavism as Radha; Krishna means the all attractive one; Rama means the reservoir of joy. Read as a prayer, the chant asks to be engaged in loving service. The Kali Santarana Upanishad presents it as the sound that carries a person across this age.
