Meaning
Three parts carry this Sanskrit line: om, the seed sound dum that Tantric texts assign to Durga, and durgayai namah, salutation to Durga. Her name comes from durga, a fortress or a place hard to reach, so it addresses her as both the stronghold and the one who cannot be stormed. Shakta tradition treats dum as the goddess in sound before she takes any form.
